Accomplishments 19-20

Fall 2019: We have 20 talented women in our RFHS Women's Choir and 24 excellent singers in Chamber Choir!

We started a choir at Carbondale Middle School after over TWO DECADES of a wait with great success including singers grades 5-8 with around 17 singers each week.

We had a well-attended and outstanding Fall Concert Performance in October 2019. Congratulations to all the performers on an excellent presentation of their choral work!

On November 1st Chamber Choir accepted an invitation to join Manhattan Concert Productions for a performance at Carnegie Hall in June 2020! These students have worked tremendously hard and have an amazing adventure awaiting them in the Big Apple! You can read more about our performance in our article in the Sopris Sun.

Congratulations to Xitlali Gomez (11), Ryan Camp (11), Ayden Richmond (11), and Isabella Knaus (11), our four representatives who auditioned for Colorado All State Choir in Grand Junction in early October! We're very proud of their hard work and dedication to execute this difficult audition. Isabella Knaus was the first female and second EVER singer in the history of RFHS to be accepted! She will be performing at the Buell Theater in Denver in February 2020

Congratulations to Quinn Wells (8) who was our FIRST EVER student accepted to the Colorado Middle School All State Choir. Her recorded audition received a 99/100! Her performance will be at the BELCO Theater in Denver in February 2020. Congratulations Quinn!

Congratulations to all of our choirs who participated in TWO Veterans' Day Performances this year. Combining singers from grades K-12 we were proud to honor our country's veterans on Friday, Nov. 8th at the Orchard and Monday, Nov. 11th at Carbondale Middle School.

Congratulations to our eleven students who auditioned for the Southwestern Regional American Choral Directors' Honor Choirs to take place in March of 2020 in Little Rock, AR. We are VERY please that for the first time ever two students were selected to participate: Isabella Knaus (11) and Corbin Friend (9) will be representing RFHS for the first time in the school's history.

Congratulations to the seven representatives we sent to the Colorado Choral Directors' Select Choir on November 18-19th in Grand Junction. Their culminating concert was incredible! Congratulations to Jessica Kollar (11), Xitlali Gomez (11), Isabella Knaus (10), William Bingaman (11), Ryan Camp (11), Lance Weidemann (11), and Travis Ochko (11). You guys were amazing!

We had a tremendously successful Holiday Harmonies Winter Concert on December 11th at The Orchard in Carbondale! Congratulations to all the performers! We had a full house and many community sponsors who supported our silent auction. Collectively we made around $3,300 which will go toward important purchases for our department & students. This year we were honored to have been asked to carol at Light Up Carbondale with Santa on Friday, December 6th. It was amazing to see the lights & people and to pay forward our holiday music with an amazing community tradition. Thank you Carbondale!
